The calling card for the 2016 Woodbridge Blue Raiders, defense. Five times in ten regular season games, Woodbridge’s defense shutout their opposition.
The front line has graduated and being a Division II program, those players that were key to a dominant defense were also the same players opening holes for running back Terrique Riddick and providing protection for quarterback Troy Haynes.
The Blue Raiders do return several key players, like Haynes, who were instrumental in winning the first state championship in school history. To make up for a size difference on offense, look for the Blue Raiders to take advantage of their team speed. “We’re smaller than most teams and we have to be up and in one those categories,” Haynes said. “Speed is what we are.”
