Cape Goes For Eighth Straight State Title

Cape Goes For Eighth Straight State Title

May 30, 2016 | Posted by Matt Pencek | Featured Sports, Local Sports |

One of the best dynasties going on Delmarva, perhaps the best, is that of the Cape Henlopen Girls Lacrosse team.  Tuesday at 7:00 pm Cape will meet Tower Hill for the Delaware Girls High School Championship.  The game will take place at Wesley College in Dover.

This is a rematch of last season’s semifinal contest.  The Vikings won 17-8 and followed that up with a 16-6 win over Polytech in the 2015 title game.

This will be the final high school game for Lizzie Frederick.  The senior will continue her lacrosse career at the collegiate division I level next year at Temple.  During this playoff run Frederick has tallied 11 goals and nine assists in two games.  Cape has outscored Caravel and St. Andrews by a combined score of 33-10.

The Vikings and Tower Hill did meet during the regular season on May 6.  Frederick had a four goal effort in a 14-6 Cape Henlopen win.
