Crisfield’s Collins Looks to Inspire Young Basketball Players

July 21, 2016 Posted by Matt Pencek Featured Sports, Local Sports

Andre Collins has achieved many honors in basketball.  Now he wants to pass along his knowledge.  The Andre Collins It’s A Shore Thing Youth Basketball Camp will run from July 25-29 at James M. Bennett High School in Salisbury. Registration closes Friday, July 21.

This is not your typical basketball skill-learning week. Collins senses the challenges for student athletes on the Eastern Shore. In addition to basketball, he plans to have life lesson messages for the participants.

Collins was earned 1st Team All-State honors when he lead Crisfield to the 2000 1A Championship. Collins played three seasons for the University of Maryland including the 2002 National Championship team. He has played pro ball in Europe including in Italy for over seven seasons.

“i’m not going to tell the kids if you do this you can become a professional athlete,” Collins told WBOC. “My goal is to do something positive and for the kids to see something positive. I want them to learn something new every day.”
