Delmar – With her status as one of the best 24 field hockey players in the United States under the age of 17 secure, Delmar’s Hailey Bitters attempted to join the elite of the elite. Over the winter, she attended training sessions throughout the country to make her case for a spot on the travel team. Bitters learned this past weekend that she was not one the 18 selected to represent the United States in international competition overseas.
A minor disappointment for a high school player who has accomplished a great deal. In the fall of 2017, Bitters earned First Team All-State (Delaware) honors in helping lead Delmar to a second consecutive state title. In addition, she committed to playing division I college field hockey at Syracuse. In 2020, she will rejoin her Wildcat teammate Peyton Kemp who will be a freshman this fall for the Orange.
