Maryland Eastern Shore returns four starters from a team that last season finished sixth in the MEAC and played their way to the semifinal round of the conference tournament.
One of those four, Ryan Andino has been nursing an injury during the practice sessions leading up to the Friday, Nov. 10th opener in the Hytche Center against Valley Forge. Andino is the only player returning that averaged double figures in scoring (13.0 ppg) last season.
“Ryan Andino one the most prolific shooters I’ve ever coached,” Eastern Shore head coach Bobby Collins said.
With or without Andino, the Hawks are confident about the ability of their backcourt. Logan McIntosh (8.6 ppg and 4.4 apg in 2016-17) and Dontae Caldwell (8.5 ppg) will be asked to lead the team. Collins also adds freshman Cameron Bacote who averaged 20.0 points per game in his senior season at Bethel (VA) High School.
