Smyrna – On Saturday, the Division II high school wrestling dynasty continued for Milford. The Buccaneers 38-29 win over Laurel meant the title stays on the banks of the Mispillion River. The Division I title went to Caesar Rodney with a 30-29 win over host school Smyrna.
Milford secured their fifth consecutive state championship thanks to a pin by Oscar Rosario at 152 pounds. It came down to the final match at 160 to decide the Division I championship. Caesar Rodney junior Mikell Abdullah needed to avoid losing by pin or major decision to the Eagles’ J.T. Davis. Davis won the match 7-2 but it was not enough for Smyrna. The Riders now own 14th state titles, the most in Delaware.
