Melo Trimble played liked the first team pre-season All-American Melo Trimble in leading Maryland to a 73-60 win over Hawaii in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Terrapins advance to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2003.
Trimble led all scorers with 24 points. Add in 8 rebounds, 3 assists, with just 2 turnovers and it was a complete effort by the Terp guard. Early in the second half, Maryland trailed 41-39. A 14-0 run pushed the Terps into a 53-41 lead. They had complete control of the game from that point.
Diamond Stone and Rasheed Sulaimon each had 14 points. Jake Layman chipped in with 10.
Maryland will return to College Park Sunday night and begin preparations for their Thursday game against number one seed Kansas.
