A 2-9 record in his third season was not enough to keep Kenny Carter as Delaware State Head Football Coach. In a release issued Monday morning, the University announced Carter’s contract will be renewed when it expires Jan. 21, 2018.
“We thank Coach Carter for his service to the University, especially his commitment to maintaining a classroom first philosophy for his players,” Delaware State Vice President of Student Affairs Dr. Stacy Downing said. “We wish him well in his future endeavors.”
In his three seasons with the Hornets, Carter only won three of 33 games. His tenure included a winless 2016 season part of an overall 17 game losing streak that stretched into the middle of 2017.
Delaware State also announced Louis “Skip” Perkins’ contract as director of athletics was not renewed. Mary Hill (senior associate athletics director for internal operations and senior woman administrator) will serve as interim director of athletics.
