Jeff Gordon was a bridge from old school to the new of Jimmie Johnson and Dale Jr. Now we are getting a glimpse of the next generation. Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson have flirted with victory lane over the past two months only to come up short. Larson believes their time is coming.
“You’ll see a big change in the next six or seven years probably with some of the veterans leaving the sport and lots of new guys filling their seats its exciting to see,” Larson said. “I’m happy I got here in the first small wave of seats opening up.”
The stop this week on the Cup circuit is Sonoma Raceway in California. Elliott is sixth in the points standings. He has the most of all drivers who do not have a guaranteed spot in the playoffs.
