The Ravens are facing an investigation by the NFL, according to an ESPN report, for using full pads during the recent rookie minicamp. Full pads are not allowed until training camp. If their use did occur, it is a violation of the collective bargaining agreement.
ESPN is also citing an unnamed Ravens official who did state that their was a five minute minute period on May 6 when rookies and first year players suited in pads to participate in a non-contact punt drill. The team believed the minicamp did not fall under the same guidelines as organized team activities. The players were pulled from the field once clarification was received by union representative Benjamin Watson.
