College Park, MD – It was a tale of two halves. It was the second that propelled Pocomoke to a 64-56 win over Lake Clifton and the Maryland 1A State Championship.
Specifically it was the fourth quarter. The Warriors outscored the Lakers 20-6 in the final eight minutes. Free throw shooting was a major factor in this win. 34 of Pocomoke’s 64 points came from the line. For the game, the Warriors hit 81.0% of their free throws.
Tyler Nixon led Pocomoke with 23 points. The win is the fourth state title in the history of the school and Pocomoke’s first since 2002.
