Ravens Make Move At Quarterback – And It’s Not Colin Kaepernick

July 31, 2017 Posted by Matt Pencek Featured Sports, National Sports

On Monday the Ravens signed Liberty University product Josh Woodrum and waived David Olson. The move puts Woodrum third on the team’s quarterback depth chart behind Ryan Mallett and Dustin Vaughan. The Ravens quarterback situation became unstable after Joe Flacco went out with a back injury.

The Ravens are also considering a look at the darling of many national sports columnists, Colin Kaepernick. Last season with the 49ers, Kaepernick gained attention for his kneeling protest in the National Anthem. Kaepernick cited talking points from Black Lives Matter in opposition to police action as his reason for the anthem actions.

“We’re worried about the Ravens right now,” Mallett said. “If he comes.. cool. If he doesn’t.. cool, but we really don’t care about that right now.”

Tight End Ben Watson, who has been viewed as a team leader at his other stops in the NFL, attempted to be diplomatic on the Kaepernick subject.

“A lot of people have strong opinions about him (Kaepernick) and what he stands for,” Watson said. “We have to be careful and not hate him personally because of his point of view.”
