Salisbury Is Top Seed In NCAA South Region

Indianapolis, IN – The National Collegiate Athletic Association announced the 56-team field for the 2017 NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament. The No. 10 Salisbury University baseball team was awarded the No. 1 seed in the South Region and will travel to Danville, Virginia.

The Sea Gulls are one of six teams in the south region. Also in their region is the top ranked team in the nation, LaGrange (Ga.) College as the No. 2 seed, Rowan University as the No. 3 seed, Emory University as the four, Otterbein University at five, and rounding the group is Roanoke College as the No. 6 seed.

The teams will face off in a double-elimination tournament starting on Thursday, May 18. Salisbury will take on the Old Dominion Athletic Conference winner Roanoke in its first game of the tournament on May 18.

Six teams will compete at four regional sites and eight teams will compete at four regional sites. All regionals will use a double-elimination format. Forty-one conference champions qualified automatically.

The winners of the eight regional tournaments will qualify for the double-elimination championship at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, Wisconsin May 26-31.
