The Capital Athletic Conference released it’s preseason men’s lacrosse coaches poll Wednesday giving the first-pace nod to the Salisbury University Sea Gulls.
Salisbury received 63 points in the poll and seven of the nine first place votes coming off their eleventh DIII National Championship in school history. The Gulls went on to post a 23-1 record last season suffering their only loss in the CAC championship.
The other two first place votes and 57 points went to the York College Spartans who were responsible for Salisbury’s lone loss on the season.
Sea Gull Head Coach Jim Berkman will look to have his team be back-to-back national champs for the fifth time in school history, most recently being in 2011-2012.
Six of the nine USILA All-Americans from last season will be returning to the Gulls including Nathan Blondino, Kyle Tucker and Will Nowesnick.
Salisbury University will kick off their 2017 campaign at Sea Gull Stadium Saturday as they will take on Methodist University. Face-off is set for 1 p.m.
