4 p.m. Friday, July 15 is the deadline for NFL teams to finalize a new contract with franchised tagged players. Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins is one of those players.
Cousins is coming off a career season. A season where he lead Washington to the 2015 NFC East title. Cousins’ 4,166 passing yards set a franchise record. However, the Redskins have been reluctant to sign him to long term deal. 2015 was the first season that Cousins was the team’s full-time starter. It appears the Redskins want to see what he can do this year to validate a multi-year big dollar contract.
If a new deal is not reached by Friday, Cousins will play this season under a one year contract worth $19.95 million.
