PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, which the University of Maryland Eastern Shore is a part of, says that fall sports will be able to resume in spring 2021.
This comes after MEAC suspended all fall sports in July. For athletes, especially seniors, this comes as welcome news.
“It’s really hard being a senior because I never imagined my senior year being like that. You go hard your last year. You leave everything on the court, in the training room, in the gym everywhere,” says senior women’s volleyball player Ilina Spasova, “you go strong because this is the year you remember how your career ended.”
If all goes according to plan, the women’s volleyball team at UMES and other MEAC schools will be able to begin their season in January of 2021. Mauri Carver, a middle-blocker for the volleyball team says that when spring comes around, “we will be prepared because of the training that we get to do now.”
As of now, there is no set date for when the UMES volleyball season will resume.
