NEWARK, DEL. The Delaware Blue Hens men’s basketball team currently holds a 4-3 record, improving from its 0-7 start last season.
The Blue Hens suffered two big injuries this season including sophomore guard/forward Chivarsky Corbett, who went down with a season-ending ACL injury. Prior to the start of the regular season, sophomore forward Eric Carter also suffered an ACL injury, forcing him to redshirt.
“The attitude of our team has been, ‘OK what do we have to do to win?'” Head Coach Monte Ross said.
Sophomore point guard Kory Holden, a James M. Bennett High School graduate, is a big part of leading that charge.
“This team is tough,” Holden said. “We are tougher than we were last year. We’re a lot more tougher mentally and physically.”
Holden credits the team’s tough attitude to its 62-56 come-from-behind win in Week 1 against Delaware State.
Ross believes an improvement on defense will help improve the team’s 10-20 overall record from the 2014-15 season.
