Delmarva Christian Sweeps ESIAC Tournament Championships

February 22, 2019 Posted by Matt Pencek Basketball, Featured Sports, Local Sports

Basketball is king on the campus of Delmarva Christian.  On Thursday both of the Royal’s varsity programs (boys and girls) won ESIAC Tournament Championships.  Playing on their homecourt, the boy’s had two players score more than 20 points, Andrew Workman (22) and Wyatt Kwiatkowski  (21) as Delmarva Christian defeated Worcester Prep 72-49.  The game was tied at 17 after the first quarter and the Royals only held a 31-25 edge at halftime.  The third quarter is where the game was won.  Delmarva Christian outscored Prep 27-11.  The Royals finish 12-0 against ESIAC opponents and wait to see if their overall record of 18-2 is good enough to qualify for the Delaware State High School Basketball Tournament.

It was also Delmarva Christian and Worcester Prep for the girl’s ESIAC title.  The Mallards might have had the homecourt, but it was the Royals who walked off it a 37-28 winner.  Grace Fetterman led Demarva Christian with 13 points.  The Royals have a 15-5 record and also await to see if there is more basketball to be played in their season.
