The Baltimore Orioles this week announced their spring training schedule. The O’s will begin and end the 2016 Grapefruit League season with the Atlanta Braves. Baltimore opens its exhibition slate on March 1 at the Braves’ facility in Orlando, Fla. Atlanta closes out the Florida portion of the schedule on March 31 at the Orioles’ Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota.
Pitchers and catchers report for camp on Feb. 18 and their first workout will take place the following day. Feb. 24 is the first session for the entire squad.
This past season, the Orioles failed to defend their American League East title and needed to win their final five games just to reach .500 at 81-81. Seven Orioles become free agents after the World Series ends, including 2015 American League home run leader Chris Davis.
