Princess Anne, MD — Maryland Eastern Shore will compete in the opening game of the 2017 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Baseball Championship, drawing the North Carolina A&T State Aggies for a game to be played at noon Wednesday inside Arthur W. Perdue Stadium in nearby Salisbury.
The Shore comes into MEAC’s as the No. 3 seed from the Northern Division, and A&T enters as the No. 2 seed from the South.
This will be the fourth meeting between the Hawks and the Aggies this season. North Carolina A&T swept the three game series in Greensboro earlier this season and currently boasts an 11 game winning streak over Maryland Eastern Shore, dating back to 2009. In 53 meetings dating back to 1988, the Aggies lead the Hawks in the series, 41-12.
Should The Shore emerge victorious against A&T, they will be on in the winner’s bracket to face Norfolk State Thursday at 3:30. If they lose, the Hawks will play again on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in an elimination game.
Along with Maryland Eastern Shore, North Carolina A&T State and Norfolk State, three teams—Delaware State, Florida A&M and the defending champions Bethune-Cookman—qualified to make the trip to Salisbury.
