Dover, DE – Following a 16-2 regular season in conference play, the Delaware State Hornet Softball Team heads into this week’s MEAC tournament as the number one seed. Delaware State will play North Carolina A&T in the opening round Thursday May 12 with first pitch scheduled for 10:00 am. The tournament held in Ormond Beach, FL runs through Saturday May 14.
The Hornets roll into the post-season winners of 13 straight. This is the second time in the last three seasons that Delaware State earned the number one seed. However, the Hornets have not won the MEAC tournament since 2008.
The matchup with A&T marks the third consecutive year the two squads have met in the first round of the MEAC Tournament, with the Hornets winning the previous two meetings: 7-1 (2014) and 8-0 (2015). DSU also holds the all-time series advantage over the Aggies with an 11-10 mark.
