DOVER, Del. – The dynasty continues for the Cape Henlopen Girls Lacrosse team. The Vikings’ 16-4 win over Tower Hill brings an eighth consecutive state championship back to Lewes.
Cailey Thornburg opened the scoring in the first half for the first of her four goals on the night. With the scored tied at two, senior Lizzie Frederick with 13:40 left in the first half, set up Mallory Jones for the goal that put Cape up for good.
Frederick, who played the final game of her high school career, contributed two goals of her own. Cape Henlopen closed the game played at Wesley College on an 8-0 run.
Including the postseason, the Vikings finish 2016 with a 17-1 record.
