Salisbury, MD – It was dubbed as The War On The Shore as two of the Maryland Eastern Shore’s Division III men’s lacrosse teams met on Wednesday. It ended up being a dominating effort for second ranked Salisbury as the Sea Gulls defeated Washington 14-2 under the lights of Sea Gull Stadium.
James Burton tallied the first Sea Gull marker just 37 seconds into the game, as he barreled down the middle of the Shoremen defense and fought through a double and finished in traffic.
Thomas Cirillo added one from a deep-lefty shot before Tyler Powers connected on a feed from Tanner Barbieri to cut Salisbury’s lead in half.
Two minutes later, Nathan Blondino put one home at 8:11 to start a run of seven goals in a row for the Salisbury offense. Highlighting the stretch was a Jake Rotman goal where he started to sweep across the top of the offensive zone, then put on the brakes, planted his feet and ripped an underhand shot that blew past the keeper to the top shelf.
The win pushes Salisbury’s record to 8-0 to start the season. Washington falls to 3-2.
