Washington, D.C. – After being placed on the Paternity Leave List on June 3, Ryan Zimmerman will rejoin the Nationals for their series against the White Sox Tuesday in Chicago. Zimmerman, 31, was hitting .250 with a .312 on-base percentage and a .451 slugging percentage. The first baseman has collected 11 doubles, one triple, eight home runs, and 26 RBI for the Nationals in 48 games this season.
The Nationals optioned infielder Trea Turner to Triple-A Syracuse. Turner, 22, went 3-for-3 with a walk in his brief first Major League appearance of the season. The Nationals’ No. 2 prospect, according to Baseball America, and the No. 9 prospect in all of baseball entering the 2016 season, Turner returns to Triple-A, where he left hitting .310 with a .376 on-base percentage in 50 games at Triple-A.
